There’s not a lot of details yet on what will be the 23rd Bond film. It’s slated for release on Nov. 9, 2012, and will star Daniel Craig, Javier Bardem and Ralph Fiennes, according to the Internet Movie Database. Sam Mendes (“Road to Perdition” and “Revolutionary Road”) will direct.
The financial struggles of production company MGM put the project in jeopardy for a while, but I’m glad to hear Craig will be back for at least one more round as the famous British spy. His first Bond film, “Casino Royale,” is my all-time favorite spy movie, and I’m curious to see what they’ll do with the next film.
Other upcoming spy flicks include:
– “This Means War,” an action/comedy slated for release on Feb. 17, 2012, and starring Reese Witherspoon, Chris Pine and Tom Hardy. According to IMDB.com, this film is about “two top CIA operatives (who) wage an epic battle against one another after they discover they are dating the same woman.” I think Pine and Hardy are great casting choices, and it’ll be interesting to watch them play off each other. I’m not sure Witherspoon is the actress I’d have picked to star opposite them in this particular film, but it’s still definitely one I’m planning on seeing. – “Haywire,” slated for release on Jan. 20, 2012, and starring Gina Carano, Ewan McGregor, Michael Fassbender, Channing Tatum, Michael Douglas and Antonio Banderas. According to IMDB.com, the plot revolves around “a black ops super soldier seeking payback after she is betrayed and set up during a mission.” This film looks like it will have a great ensemble cast and will be pretty suspenseful.
